- Prepare for bathing, dressing, shaving, grooming, and hair care with consent and privacy
- Promote independence by offering choices and the least assistance necessary
- Use safe hygiene, water-temperature, positioning, and infection-control practices
- Observe skin without diagnosing and report redness, wounds, pain, swelling, bruising, or other changes promptly
- Support oral and denture care safely and recognize concerns requiring dental, clinical, or supervisor follow-up
- Document the care provided, participant response, refusals, observations, and notifications objectively
Pennsylvania competency foundation
Pennsylvania requires agency-developed personal-care training or competency testing to address bathing, shaving, grooming, dressing, and hair, skin, and mouth care. Olivia’s online course provides the knowledge layer; the agency must still verify assigned hands-on skills through observation or another approved competency method.

Complete every required lesson and pass the final knowledge check with at least 80% to qualify for the course-specific completion certificate. Completion does not authorize an unfamiliar task or replace the participant’s care plan, infection-control procedures, hands-on training, clinical direction, or supervisor-observed competency.
